Lesson 5A : Preposition


Kita perjelas dulu ya sobat inklish, apa yang dimaksud dengan preposition? Dalam Bahasa Indonesia kita sering menggunakan kata "di" dan "ke". Nah kedua kata tersebut adalah preposition (kata depan)

Preposition dalam bahasa inggris ada banyak, fungsinya untuk menunjukkan "arah, waktu, tempat, cara, sebab, atau HUBUNGAN lainnya", preposition menjawab pertanyaan "dimana, kapan, kemana, dengan apa, tentang apa, seperti apa"

in, on, at, between, above, below, behind, around, across, against, since, during, by, for, before, after, over, through, toward, onto, out of, into, down, along, to, from, of, as, with, about
  • The book is on the table
  • The cat is under the cair
  • He sits next to me
  • The car is in front of the house
  • She is in the room
  • I will see you at 5 o'clock
  • Her birthday is on Monday
  • His birthday is on 9 November
  • Her birthday is in October
  • She walked into the room

  • We are going to the park
    • we (pronoun sebagai subjek)
    • are (auxiliary verb / helping verb)
    • going
      • verb+ing sebagai kata kerja (action verb / dynamic verb) disebut present participle
      • kalau verb+ing sebagai noun disebut gerund
    • to (preposition)
      • dalam kalimat diatas, "to" sebagai preposition
      • berbeda dengan "to" dalam infinitive
    • the (article)
    • park (noun sebagai objek)
  • They are talking about going to the party
    • they (pronoun sebagai subjek)
    • are (auxiliary verb)
    • talking (main verb)
    • about (preposition) 
    • going (gerund)
    • to (preposition)
    • the (article)
    • party (noun sebagai object)


Aturan tentang preposition (lesson 5)
  • Preposition menghubungkan noun / pronoun dengan
    • noun
    • pronoun object (him, her, them, us, me)
    • gerund
  • They are talking about to go to the party together next week 
    • ➜ ini adalah contoh infinitive yang diletakkan setelah preposisi "about"
    • ini tidak boleh ❌ (setelah preposition hanya bisa noun, pronoun object, gerund)
    • Jadi they are talking about going to the party together next week (gerund) ✅
  • Preposition juga tidak bisa diikuti "verb dasar" secara langsung
    • before go ❌ 
      • harusnya before going ✅
    • after eat ❌ 
      • harusnya after eating ✅
    • without think ❌ 
      • harusnya without thinking ✅
    • good at swimming ✅
    • interested in learning english ✅
    • in the room ✅
    • with him ✅
    • for you ✅
    • to you ✅
